BACKGROUND

KTI’s client, A global pharmaceutical company (the “client”) that specializes in the research and development of new drugs relies heavily on high-performance computing (HPC) to simulate and analyze large amounts of data.

CHALLENGE

The client had an in-house HPC environment, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to manage and maintain. The system was outdated and was not able to handle the growing demands of their research team. Additionally, the IT staff responsible for the HPC environment had limited experience with HPC systems and were struggling to keep up with the maintenance and troubleshooting required.

SOLUTION

Our client decided to outsource the management of their HPC environment to KTI because of extensive expertise in HPC systems. KTI assessed the current state of the HPC environment and recommended upgrading the hardware and software to a more powerful and efficient system which allowed virtualization and fractionalization of GPU resources through a VDI interface. KTI also provided training for the IT staff on how to properly maintain and troubleshoot the new system.

IMPLEMENTATION

KTI worked closely with our pharmaceutical client to design and implement a new HPC environment that met their specific needs. We installed new hardware and software, including high-performance processors and specialized software for data analysis. We also provided ongoing support and maintenance to ensure that the system was running at optimal performance.

RESULTS

With the new HPC environment in place the client was able to significantly increase the speed and efficiency of their research. The system was able to handle large amounts of data and perform complex simulations, which greatly improved the productivity of the research team. The IT staff also felt more comfortable with the new system and were able to quickly resolve any issues that arose.

CONCLUSION

Outsourcing the management of their HPC environment to KTI allowed our client to focus on their core business of drug research and development. The new HPC environment provided the necessary power and efficiency for their research, and the ongoing support and maintenance ensured that the system was always running at optimal performance.
